The eclectic look is all about creating a room that matches your personal style, but what if you're still struggling to figure out what that is?
Vinitha Watson, creative director of Belmont, Calif.-based home décor and textiles company Kaaya, recommends gathering ideas while you're traveling.
Here are her top three tips:
1) Take pictures of everything that catches your eye.
"You may not know why you like that thing," she says. "But when you come back and sit down with your pictures, you can deconstruct what the common themes are."
2) Buy things you love.
Watson suggests picking up anything you're drawn to emotionally, as long as it's not too hard on the wallet. Fabrics or small accessories might be good places to start.
3) Use these pictures and objects as the basis for a room.
"I find that it's a really great way to know yourself and find out what you can live with forever," she says. Watson's bedding collections, for instance, are inspired by different regions of India.
